In early 2015, Women for a Healthy Environment (WHE) trained 12 community ambassadors to represent the organization by delivering educational programming to various neighborhoods throughout the City of Pittsburgh. The ambassadors provide tools, information and resources from our Healthy Homes program and cover such topics as air quality, consumer product safety, and healthier food choices. The WHE Ambassador program empowers community members and provides a forum for open discussions on topics to which everyone can relate. Not only are attendees learning about how environmental risks impact health, they are also equipped with tools to make behavior changes. The current WHE ambassadors reach a broad audience across the Pittsburgh region including: East Liberty, Hazelwood, Hill District, Homewood, Lincoln/Larimer, North Side, Duquesne, Clairton, and Wilkinsburg. If you are interested in becoming a WHE Ambassador or hosting an educational workshop, please contact WHE at info@WomenForAHealthyEnvironment.org or 412-404-2872. Special thanks to Three Rivers Community Foundation and UPMC Health Plan for supporting this program!
