The Healthy Homes Asthma program strives to ensure a healthy, asthma-friendly home for all, but especially for children.
Unmonitored or uncontrolled asthma can be fatal for children. Asthma triggers in the home include mold, moisture, poor ventilation, poor temperature control, pests and dust. WHE is assessing and addressing in-home asthma triggers to improve asthma control for children in Allegheny County.

Our Community Health Workers (CHWs) can help you create a safer, healthier home. During a Healthy Home Assessment, a CHW will visit your home to discuss common environmental hazards like asthma and allergy triggers, lead paint, mold, and harmful chemicals. You’ll receive personalized advice on how to reduce these risks in your living space.
