Children’s Health

A child’s health and development is profoundly impacted by the environment they live, learn, grow and play.

Pound for pound, and breath for breath, children’s bodies take in more food, water and air compared to adults during the early stages of developing from infants into children. Because of the rapid pace of their growth and their behaviors, children are uniquely vulnerable to the health effects of environmental hazards.

Protect Children

Pound for pound, and breath for breath, children’s bodies take in more food, water and air compared to adults during the early stages of developing from infants into children. Because of the rapid pace of their growth and their behaviors, children are uniquely vulnerable to the health effects of environmental hazards. Children’s bodies are still learning how to perform different physiological processes including the removal of toxic substances. It is our responsibility to make informed decisions to protect children in the spaces where they grow, live, learn and play. (Source: National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences)
