Individuals in Allegheny County living in environmental justice communities who are concerned about environmental hazards and/or are dealing with issues like asthma or lead poisoning are eligible for a FREE Healthy Home Assessment which includes a visual assessment of their home for environmental hazards including: allergens, asthma triggers, lead-based paint hazards, mold and moisture, pests, and other health and safety hazards. Through this program, participants will understand and be able recognize environmental hazards in their home and know what services are available to help them.
Our program focuses on the crucial issue of environmental justice, particularly in the face of climate change. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 1st, 2024, 6:00 – 8:30 pm, at the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh.
During her talk, Dr. White-Newsome will shed light on the disproportionate impact of environmental pollution and climate change on low-income neighborhoods and communities of color.
